The red boxes are your deadlines.
Im pushing this because the mag will be uploaded in the last few days of Dec, and we need time after the deadline for our editors to confirm our designs. Prepare to have your file sent back to you for editing too.

We also have to design our own tee shirts and namecards, and the editors will pick one out of each as our official tee and namecard. The red boxes also refer to the deadlines of the tee shirts and namecards.

Anyway, please do rough layouts even when your article has not arrived.
Be prepared in case your article comes to you just a day before the layout deadline.

Because it would really really suck if you had a designers' block in an event of last minute work :)
the rough layouts will be your cushion!

IMPORTANT- Layout template

LAYOUT SIZE: 800x600
WORKING RESOLUTION: 300 DPI
VIEWING RESOLUTION: 72 DPI

So basically this is how the layout of the magazine looks like.

so if your doing 4 pages, you would have 2 layouts
if you're doing 2 pages, you would have just one layout.




(the page/gradient effect is just to illustrate the magazine page effect, so dont worry about it, just download the completely clean and blank one AT THE BOTTOM OF TEH POST)


So your finished product should look something like that... your text can cross over to the 2nd page! :D

rough Illustrator sketch...
it was abit random and had a concept in it as well.
i thought "since the Editors Note is an important part of a mag, so its kinda like things/notes being projected on a screen"
and also i thought that it would be appropriate to literally show the projection of thought (using the projecter to project the necessary text on the screen), after all, an Editors Note is a place where he/she expresses his feelings and thoughts.

things for me to ammend:
-humanise the projecter as a head (lol it will be such great fun)
-give projector element a proper treatment (linework, etc)





and then here is a bag thing i doodled on.. never touched the bag much

so get ready and prepare to work on the finalised layouts soon..
meantime, if you have your articles and about to start, work in 800x600 canvas. split each canvas in half (the first half being the first page, the other half being the second).
and if you haven't gotten any word on your articles, just pen down any ideas you have in a sketchbook or whatever ^^
our big deadline nearing soon, cuz the magazine will officially be up before jan.

if you dont feel inspired yet, just chill and talk abit of cock/stone.. thats how i managed to manifest that stupid projetor idea. :D
